How to request movies & shows
Want to watch something that isn’t in the library yet? You don’t have to text Stephen and wait. We use a website called Overseerr where you can ask for any movie or show yourself — and once it’s approved it downloads and shows up in Plex automatically, usually within a day.
You sign in with the same Plex account you already use to watch, so there’s no new password to remember.
The short version
Section titled “The short version”- Open Overseerr in your web browser. (Stephen will share the exact web address.)
- Sign In with Plex (the same login you watch with).
- Search for the movie or show.
- Tap Request. Done — you’ll get it when it’s ready.
Open Overseerr and sign in
Section titled “Open Overseerr and sign in”You only do this once:
- Go to Overseerr in any web browser — on your phone, tablet, or computer. (Stephen will share the exact web address with you.)
- Tap Sign In with Plex and use the same Plex account you watch the library with.
- If your browser asks permission, tap Allow. After that it remembers you.
Find what you want
Section titled “Find what you want”Overseerr looks a lot like Netflix — posters you can browse and search.
- Search — tap the magnifying glass and type a title.
- Browse — the home page shows popular and trending movies and shows.
- A green Available label means it’s already in the library — just open Plex and watch it.
Request it
Section titled “Request it”- For a movie: open it and tap Request. That’s the whole thing.
- For a TV show: open it and tap Request, then choose which seasons you want (or select all of them), and confirm.
Your request then goes to Stephen to approve — you don’t need to do anything else.
What happens next
Section titled “What happens next”Open a title (or your Requests list) any time to see where it’s at:
- Pending Approval — your request came through and is waiting for Stephen to approve it.
- Processing — approved, and now downloading to the library.
- Available — it’s ready. Open Plex and watch. (For a show where only some seasons are ready yet, you’ll see Partially Available.)
Most requests are ready within a day. Big or brand-new titles can take longer, and a movie still in theaters won’t be available until it’s out for home viewing.
A few tips
Section titled “A few tips”- One request is enough. If it shows Pending Approval or Processing, it’s already on the way — requesting again won’t speed it up.
- Can’t find a title at all? Try the original or alternate spelling. If it still isn’t there, it may not be available to download yet — check back in a few days.
- Wrong version (foreign language, poor quality)? Mention it and Stephen can swap it.
When something’s not working
Section titled “When something’s not working”- Signed out? Open Overseerr again and Sign In with Plex.
- Page won’t load? Check your internet, then try again in a minute.
- Requested but it’s been days? Check the status first — if it’s stuck on Pending Approval, text Stephen the title and he’ll approve it.
